Classic Rock 102.9 WMGK is proud to recognize afternoon DJ (2pm to 7pm), Andre Gardner, for receiving the 2008 March of Dimes AIR Awards Milestone Award.  The award is presented to someone whose Philadelphia radio career spans over two decades and has made outstanding contributions to the radio arts in Philadelphia.

Gardner's first job as an on-air personality came at age sixteen, when he worked at Trenton's 97.5 WPST, but his broadcast career began even earlier than that.  When he was eight years old, his father and brother built him a radio station in his bedroom where he did regular broadcasts that could be heard in his surrounding Medford Lakes, NJ neighborhood.

Andre's Philadelphia radio career spans over 30 years.  His first major market, full time radio gig came at Wizard 100 WZZD in Philadelphia.  Gardner also worked at WIFI 92, WSNI Sunny 104.5, and 94.1 WYSP before landing at WMGK in 2002.  He's also worked as air talent, Music Director and Program Director for stations in New York, Dallas and Atlanta.

His weekly two hour musical salute to The Fab Four, Breakfast With the Beatles(Sundays 7am-9am on 102.9 MGK), has received international recognition.  Gardner has interviewed Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olvia Harrison for the program.

An avid Beatles fan and collector, Andre can frequently be found rummaging through old record albums at used vinyl stores, bird watching and spending time with his wife and daughter at their Chester County home.
